Mr. Menendez criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for continuing to “undermine international law, ignore human rights and democratic norms, and display alarming and destabilizing behavior against neighboring NATO allies.”

US Senator and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Bob Menendez continues to express his opposition to the Biden administration’s proposed sale of new F-16 aircraft to Turkey, according to Politico.

Mr. Menendez criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for continuing to “undermine international law, ignore human rights and democratic norms, and display alarming and destabilizing behavior against neighboring NATO allies.”

He adds that “until the Turkish President stops his threats, improves his human rights record at home – including the release of journalists and the political opposition – and starts acting as he should as a trusted ally, he will not approve this sale”.

At the same time, Mr. Menendez notes that he supports the sale of F-35 to Greece.
