Johnson: Vaccination is an Amazing Gift for Your Families – Its Christmas Message

by

“First” dose, “second” or commemorative, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on the British people to be vaccinated against covid-19 in his Christmas message, making an “amazing” gift to their families and across the country.

“After two years of pandemics, I can not say that we have gotten out of it,” Johnson said in a message broadcast today, as the coronavirus variant Omicron causes a new outbreak in the country, which has been overcome for two consecutive days at 100,000.

Unlike last year, when the immunization campaign against covid-19 was just beginning and the British government imposed new restrictions just before Christmas due to the mutated Alpha strain, this year Johnson does not intend to do the same.

“For millions of families across the country, I hope and believe that this Christmas will be much better than the previous ones,” he said.

“And if the pile of wrapping paper is bigger this year, it’s precisely because across the country, in the run-up to Christmas, we gave each other an invisible and invaluable gift,” he said.

“We made the vaccine which protects us and prevents us from infecting others,” Johnson explained. “We were vaccinated not only for ourselves, but also for our friends and family and everyone we meet.”

Johnson ends this year in a difficult political position, following scandals that came to light for breaking the lockdown rules last year, with opinion polls showing him losing ground, an internal insurgency – after many of his MPs Conservative Party voted against his proposal to impose a vaccination passport – and the loss of a traditional stronghold of his party
