Reflecting the climate of bilateral relations, Israel’s ambassador to Greece, Noam Katz, speaking at an event, said that Israel’s bilateral cooperation with Greece is at one of the highest points and expressed the belief that it will continue to develop.
The bilateral as well as regional and wider opportunities for Greek-Israeli cooperation were outlined by Israel’s ambassador to Greece, Noam Katz, speaking at the event “The world ahead 2023 Athens Gala Dinner” organized by the Economist tonight in Athens. “Israel and Greece are strategic partners. They have good relations that touch on various aspects” characteristically said Noam Katz.
Depicting the climate of bilateral relations, he said that Israel’s bilateral cooperation with Greece is at one of the highest points and expressed the belief that it will continue to develop.
Unraveling the web of bilateral relations, he emphasized tourism, “as Greece is a travel destination for thousands of Israelis”, as he said. In this context, he referred to the investments made by Israel in the tourist industry of Greece, noting that they amount to more than half a million dollars.
The Israeli ambassador made special reference to the possibilities of cooperation in the energy sector. “The energy gives us a new opportunity for cooperation, but it also brings tensions” he noted and added that with good will and logical solutions the golden ratio can be found, referring to Israel’s agreement with Lebanon.
Another link of cooperation, according to Noam Katz, is the technological sector and the synergies that can be developed in this field.
Speaking more broadly about the importance of the Eastern Mediterranean, the ambassador said that it is a corridor that connects many regions and Europe to Asia, and highlighted the importance of tripartite and multilateral forms of cooperation, such as between Israel, Greece and Cyprus.
