Princess of Wales Kate Middleton launched the ‘Shaping Us’ campaign which aims to raise public awareness of the importance of early childhood in shaping later life and society at large. An ambitious program by the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood has been described as a “lifetime project” for the Princess of Wales according to the Guardian.
“How we grow up through our experiences, relationships and environment during our early childhood fundamentally shapes our entire lives. It affects everything from our ability to form relationships and thrive at work, to our mental and physical well-being as adults and how we raise our own children,” Kate Middleton said in her speech.
“Our first survey in 2022 showed that fewer than one in five people understand the unique importance of the first five years of our lives,” said foundation head Amanda Berry, “with young people and men even lower.”
The campaign has the support of a number of celebrities, and as part of the outreach, a 90-second animated film about the importance of the early years will be screened in UK cinemas.
