The Pentagon reported this Friday (3) to have detected another Chinese balloon flying over Latin America. An object of the type spotted in US airspace the day before was accused of espionage, leading to a heightening of tensions that culminated in the postponement of a trip by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Beijing scheduled for this weekend.
Washington claims that the object found in the US would be an instrument of espionage, while Beijing says it is research equipment, mainly meteorological, that has left the route. According to Pat Ryder, spokesperson for the US Department of Defense, the artifact detected in the Latin American skies would also have espionage purposes. He did not specify the location of the balloon.
