Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gandz on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the latter.
“The two men discussed security and civilian issues” on both sides, according to a statement from the Israeli Defense Ministry.
The minister informed his interlocutor that he intends to “continue to promote actions aimed at increasing confidence in the economic and political field, as decided at the recent meeting of the two men”, the press release continues, referring to the talks they had at the beginning October in Ramallah.
According to Israeli media, Mr. Abbas talked with Mr. Gandz at the latter’s house in Ross Haagin (central Israel).
Likud condemned the meeting, arguing in a press release that “making concessions that are dangerous to Israel’s security is only a matter of time.”
“The Israeli-Palestinian government has put the Palestinians and Abbas back on the agenda. “This is dangerous for Israel,” he said.
