Satellite images taken over the week show the extent of the destruction caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that killed thousands of people in Turkey and Syria. The records are from Maxar, an American aerospace technology company.
In the images, it is possible to see the before and after of the Turkish cities of Islahiye and Nurdagi, both located in the province of Gaziantepe and close to the border with Syria. Thousands of homes, buildings and historic buildings were damaged or destroyed. The calamity situation made the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, declare a state of emergency in the region.
