A grandfather and his grandson died tragically after being attacked by tigers in India 12 hours apart. The first victim, 12-year-old Chethan, was attacked by the tiger on February 12 while picking coffee in a plantation adjacent to a forest in southern India’s Karnataka.

However, a few hours later on February 13, his grandfather was attacked in the same area near Nagarahole National Park. Raju, as he goes by name, was at his grandson’s house for the funeral and reportedly went out around 6:30 am in order to vent emotionally. It is alleged that the tiger bit him on the head and killed him instantly.

And the tragedy continues… One more family member, 56-year-old Jayamma, died of shock on learning of the deaths, the Hindustan Times reported.

An operation was soon launched to locate the animals and prevent further attacks in the area. The locals killed a tiger, as they thought it had devoured the grandfather and grandson, while some others spoke of other tigers in the area. Since October 2021 there have been over seven feline attacks in the area.
