The US Embassy in London is on alert for a suspicious package found outside the building. London’s Metropolitan Police say there was no danger.
In a message on Twitter, the US embassy confirmed that everything was “back to normal” and that the threat was caused by a “suspicious package”.

The tweet reads: “The US Embassy has returned to normal operations. Local authorities investigated and removed a suspicious package outside the Embassy.”
Earlier, an alarm was sounded while staff were asked to stay “away from the windows”.

Photos shared online by people inside the building show people sitting on the floor and staying away from windows.
A witness, who lives near the embassy and can see the building from his window, told MailOnline that armed police were rushed to the area.
