In Saint Petersburg during the laying of flowers at the monument of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko at least six people were arrested, reports the website OVD-info (in Russia it has been declared a ‘foreign agent’).

Five people were also arrested in the center of the Siberian city of Barnaul.

The four arrested, according to OVD-info, took part in a protest event in Soviet Square.

Another person arrested was holding a placard by himself next to the “zero kilometer” monument, the website Sibir.realii (also labeled a ‘foreign agent’) clarifies.

In the city of Khabarovsk, police arrested activist Nikolai Zhichii, who came out holding photos of Vladimir Putin from his television appearances.

At the police station they had a “cautionary discussion” with him and then he was released.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the city councilor Dmitry Motshalin was arrested, who went out to protest alone holding a placard that read: “Peace in Ukraine. The soldier at home»

In the city of Yekaterinburg, the police arrested seven people who had gathered at the monument “the Mask of Sorrow“, as the newspaper Vetsernie vedomosti wrote. Among those arrested, youth activists of the party Yiabloko and the creator of the channel Svet Yekaterinenburg on Telegram.

In Moscow, citizens lay flowers at the monument of Ukrainian poet Lesa Ukrainka. The police are monitoring the movement but so far no arrests have been made.

According to the website Sofa, near Pushkin Square police stop passers-by and carry out a “personal search” forcing citizens to unbutton their coats and open their backpacks.
