Alex, a large, shaggy dog with light colored eyeswas pulled alive from the rubble of a building in Antioch 23 days after the earthquake devastated the major city in southern Turkey.
According to local media, Alex was trapped in concrete slabs that had formed something like a pit when they collapsed from the 7.8 earthquake that struck on February 6 shortly after 04:00 a.m., according to rescue images of, which were broadcast by the Turkish news agency DHA.
Its owner, Mr Murat Arijiwho heard him barking, alerted a rescue team sent from the municipality of Iconium, in central Turkey.

“Well done… well done kid,” they also tell him before they manage to grab the large, shaggy dog, who despite his discomfort appears to be fine.
Alex was taken into the care of an animal protection association (Haytap), which will examine him before handing him over to his owner.
Rescue crews rescued hundreds of cats, dogs, birds, rabbits and even cows and sheep trapped in the rubble of buildings in southern Turkey.
The last survivors of the earthquake, a couple, they had been in Antioch on February 18.
Since then the investigations were suspended officially in 9 of the 11 provinces affected by the earthquake, with the exception of Hatay and Kahramanmaras, where its epicenter was located.
This earthquake, which is considered to have caused the worst disaster that modern Turkey has experienced, cost the life over 45,000 people and more than 5,000 in neighboring Syria, and destroyed hundreds of thousands of buildings.
