Site Under DDoS (Denial of Service) Overload Attack by Pro-Russian Hackers NoName057 – Group Claims Responsibility in Telegram Post
THE access to the website of the French National Assembly remains unattainable since Monday morning, due to a cyber attack claimed by the pro-Russian hacker group NoName, in response to France’s support for Ukraine.
As Thales group experts reported, anyone who tries to enter the site sees a blank page marked “page under maintenance”. The website was subjected to a DDoS (denial of service) overload attack by the pro-Russian hackers NoName057. That group claimed responsibility in a Telegram post, according to Ivan Fontarensky, Thales’ technical director of cybersecurity.
“We decided to repeat our recent trip to France, where the protests against Macron, who has decided not to give a damn about the French and continues to serve the Ukrainian neo-Nazis, have not stopped,” writes this group on Telegram.
NoName also spoke of an attack on the Senate’s website, which is however currently functioning normally.
NoName is one of about 80 pro-Russian hacker groups launching attacks in pro-Ukraine countries, mainly in Europe and North America. In France, one such attack occurred last week when the websites of Paris airports and civil aviation agency DGSI were taken down. Another group of hackers claimed responsibility, according to Thales, which monitors their communications.
NoName was founded in March 2022 and launches simple DDoS attacks, blocking websites for a short period of time. Many such groups flourished after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and, unlike “traditional” hackers, do not demand ransom.
