“Nothing is impossible if we work together” and “we have a huge opportunity to advance our economic integration,” the US president said, noting that after 200 years of diplomatic relations the two countries are on the threshold of a “new era” in their cooperation.
US President Joe Biden assured today that he wishes to advance “economic integration” with Argentina, welcoming his Argentinian counterpart Alberto Fernandez to the White House.
“Nothing is impossible if we work together” and “we have a huge opportunity to advance our economic integration,” the US president said, noting that after 200 years of diplomatic relations the two countries are on the threshold of a “new era” in their cooperation.
The 80-year-old Biden recalled that he was going to receive the president of Argentina last summer, but was forced to cancel the meeting because he was diagnosed positive for Covid-19.
Alberto Fernandez thanked the US president for the “support” of the US in relation to Buenos Aires’ relations with international economic organizations.
The International Monetary Fund, of which the US is the largest shareholder, recently gave the green light to disburse a $5.3 billion tranche to Argentina.
Fernandez also emphasized that his country is ready to cooperate with the US in the fight against climate change, underlining that Argentina is facing the “worst drought” in its history.
