Online videos show the blogger unboxing and admiring the bust of a soldier that was offered to him. Then the “gift” explodes
The last moments of the Russian blogger Vladlen Tatarskywho was murdered in St. Petersburg last Sunday, capture footage of the cafe interior where the deadly explosion occurred, during his speech.
Videos circulating online show the military blogger, a staunch supporter of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, unboxing and admiring the bust of a soldier he was offered.
Moments later, as he puts the bust back in its box, an explosion occurs that kills him and injures dozens of others.

The “gift” offered to him was trapped by an explosive device and was brought to the cafe by Daria Trepova, a young woman who was arrested and is being held by the St. Petersburg Authorities.

The videos of Tatarsky’s final moments also feature Trepova herself, whom the blogger invites to a seat at the side of the stage, calling her “Nastia”, the name by which she is said to have introduced herself.
In some clips, the girl is seen at one point raising her hands in front of her body, as if possibly protecting herself from something, and then bringing them to her face. It is not clear, however, whether these gestures indicate that he knew about the explosive device on the bust, or that he was completely ignorant.
