“No one and no institution can teach Turkey its own history” – The announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Ankara’s announcement was outraged, as reported by Manolis Kostidis, after his statements Joe Biden for the Armenian Genocide.
Genocide, and a systematic campaign of violencethe US president unequivocally characterizes the Armenian Genocide in the announcement, which is expected to ignite new “fires” in American-Turkish relations.
Turkey denies the existence of genocide, claiming that there was no extermination, but displacement of the Armenian population. However, the American president uses the word “genocide” twice.
The announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in detail
“The unfortunate statements about the events of 1915 which are incompatible with reality and international law they are futile attempts to rewrite history with political motives.
“One should not forget that the events of 1915 cannot be defined according to politicians’ agendas and internal political considerations. Such an approach only leads to a falsification of history. Those who persist in maintaining this biased attitude will go down in history as cheap political opportunists.
“We reject these statements, which are invalid to us, and we condemn in the strongest terms those who persist in this error. No one and no institution can teach Turkey its own history.
»We call these circles, who serve narrow-minded political calculations and try to draw hostility from history, to correct these serious wrongs, to support the Joint History Commission that we proposed and to contribute to regional peace and cooperation efforts.”
