The forces of Russia have not succeeded in cutting the supply lines of the Ukrainian forces that remain in part of the almost completely destroyed city of Bakhmut (east), Kiev assured yesterday Saturday.

“The Russians have been saying for weeks that they have captured the ‘road of life’ and that they have put it under their fire control. In reality, things are completely different,” said the representative of the Eastern Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhii Tserevaty, to the website zn.ua.

Although fighting is taking place over the road connecting the Chasiv Yar community to Bakhmut, Russian forces have not been able to cut off the supply of Ukrainian units to Bakhmut, he said. The shipment of supplies, weapons and ammunition is done safely, he insisted, adding that Ukrainian forces are maintaining positions on the road, while the army engineer is creating new roads. “All this allows us to continue to hold Bahamut,” he said.

In its report on the situation yesterday morning, the Ukrainian General Staff stated that there had been “unsuccessful attempts” by Russian forces to advance to this particular sector of the front.

Russian sources claim that Bahamut is more than 90% in their hands.

Hostilities in the city, where both sides are suffering heavy losses, have been raging since the summer of 2022.

The warring parties’ announcements are impossible to independently verify.
