Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Berlin has no way to ensure that the weapons it has supplied Ukraine with will not be used against Russian soil
The Kremlin announced today that Germany’s involvement in the war in Ukraine is growing daily, and Berlin has no way to ensure that the weapons it has supplied Ukraine with will not be used against Russian soil.
The representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov stated that German arms supplies have already been used in the Donbas regionwhich Russia has claimed as its own, a decision that Ukraine and the West have rejected as illegal.
The German chancellor Olaf Solts said yesterday that Germany insisted, like other NATO member countries, that the weapons it supplies Ukraine with should not be used to strike Russian territory.
But Peskov told reporters: “First, Germany has no way to control it. Secondly, the weapons with which Germany is supplying the Kiev regime are already hitting Russian territory, because Donbass is Russian territory.”
Peskov said Germany’s “direct and indirect involvement” in the war was increasing, adding that “the German chancellor must take this as a starting point.”
The two regions of eastern Ukraine that are collectively known as the Donbass have been the focus of hostilities between Ukrainian and Russian or Russian-backed forces since 2014.
Russia unilaterally annexed them last year, along with two other Ukrainian regions, although it does not fully control them.
