The official coronation photo portraits of King Charles III have been presented by Buckingham Palace.

The main portrait depicts the new monarch in the Throne Room seated on the throne built in 1902 for George V, wearing the Imperial State Crown and holding the basic symbols of royal power, namely the Scepter with the Cross in the right hand and the Orb of the Sovereign to the left.

A portrait of Charles with Camilla was also released, but also of the royal couple with the rest of the working members of the royal family.

They are photos taken on Saturday after the completion of the ceremony by the official photographer of the palaces Hugo Bernard.

In a text message posted on the Palace’s social media, King Charles states that he and his wife express “the most sincere and heartfelt thanks to those who contributed to making the coronation such a special occasion”.

As the message adds, “knowing that we have your support and encouragement and witnessing your kindness expressed in so many different ways is the greatest crowning gift possible as we now rededicate our lives to serving the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth’.
