Two inmates were arrested, who in a specially designed crypt of the cell where they were held, had hidden 118 bags of drugs intended for trafficking within the prison.
A surprise operation was carried out on Tuesday (9/5), by police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Attica Security Directorate in the prisons of Chania, with the aim of combating drug trafficking within the prisons.
During the operation, in which T.E.K.A.M. police officers participated. of Crete and the Security Sub-Directorate of Chania, with the assistance of a police dog, arrested two inmates, against whom a case was filed for violation of the laws on drugs and weapons.
In particular, the two men were caught having stored in a specially designed crypt of the cell where they are held, 118 improvised nylon bags containing quantities of drugs with the purpose of trafficking them within the prison, while two knives were also found.
In total, from the searches carried out, 140.8 grams of raw cannabis, 13.8 grams of heroin, a butterfly knife, a folding knife, a precision electronic scale and a mobile phone were found and seized.
Those arrested will be taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
