The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky he said a while ago that he is working to create a “fighter jet alliance”, stressing once again that his country needs “more weapons”. During the joint press conference with the chancellor Olaf Solzthe Ukrainian president thanked the political leadership and people of Germany, while, on the other hand, Mr. Scholz reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to support Ukraine “as long as it takes” and expressed his admiration and respect for the stance of Ukrainians since the start of the Russian offensive.

“Your presence here is a strong message. For 444 days now, Ukrainians have stood firm and heroic against the Russian attack. We will support you as long as it takes. Our solidarity is complete and firm,” Olaf Solz said as he welcomed Volodymyr Zelenskiy. “Thank you for every mother and every child you have saved,” replied the Ukrainian president and, referring to the new package – the largest yet – of aid from Germany, amounting to 2.7 billion euros, said: “Thank you, Olaf.”

Mr. Zelensky, however, stressed that his country needs more weapons to continue to defend itself against Russia and said he is working to create a “fighter alliance” so that Ukraine, he said, can finally acquire modern fighter jets. “I will also contact the German side to support us in this alliance,” Mr. Zelenskiy said, adding that the issue would be raised in the second part of the talks that follow at the chancellery.

Responding to a question about whether Ukraine is carrying out attacks on Russian territory, Volodymyr Zelensky denied the relevant information and countered: “We are not attacking Russian territory, we are liberating our territories.”

The Ukrainian president, in a post on Twitter, expresses his thanks to Germany “for the largest package of military aid”, noting that “Germany is a reliable ally”.

“Thank you to Germany for the largest military aid package since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. German air defense systems, artillery, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are saving Ukrainian lives and bringing us closer to victory. Germany is a reliable ally! Together we bring peace closer!”, he said characteristically.
