The head of the Human Rights Party and Member of Parliament Heimarras, emphasized that “the interests in the region for Rama and his clients are huge”
THE Heimarra largely it has turned into a money laundering machine, he complained on ERT the head of the Human Rights Party and Heimarra MP, Vangelis Doules.
Referring to the arrest and pre-trial detention of Fredis Belerishe explained that “the interests in the Himarra area for Rama and his clients are enormous.”
After Beleris’ victory on Sunday in the municipal elections, Vangelis Dulles had declared that he was about to triumph and that a new period was beginning, marking the beginning of the countdown to Eddie Rama’s autocracy.
Today he reported to ERT that “one week before the elections, 8-9 days, this highly aggressive nationalist rhetoric of Mr. Rama began against our candidate and today’s elected mayor of Heimarra Freddy Beleris. It was not just aggressive political rhetoric. It was offensive. It was rhetoric to which Rama has accustomed us but not with such intensity.
Let me tell you, for example, that on the last pre-election day, Friday, in the afternoon alone, he had three pre-election speeches against which half of them, regardless of where he was, in the Tirana region, in the center of Tirana or in his last television show during half the time was reported against Mr. Beleris. It is unprecedented. The interests in the Himarra area for Rama and his clients are enormous. Himarra has largely turned into a money-laundering machine.”
When asked who he thinks is behind it Mr. Dulles replied “There are many so-called oligarchs in the Albanian political debate. If you will see the resorts from the Akrokeraunia mountains, the descent of the Drymades and all the way to the other side of the municipality of Heimarra[…] we have precisely huge lands which legally belong to local residents mostly of Greek origin, whose status is disputed[…] by decisions of the Council of Ministers they are expropriated in favor of Mr. Rama’s client interests”.
When asked if he implies that Mr. Rama and his Council of Ministers are behind this, he replied “Let me tell you something more practical and known to all. The husband of the country’s foreign minister benefited from a decision of the Council of Ministers where his wife also votes. He was granted a huge area in the Municipality of Heimarra as a strategic investor for the construction of a tourist resort. So you realize what involvement there is, what entanglement and what interests are invested in Himarra. And at this moment they find in front of them the newly elected mayor with his program and all of us who has not compromised, has not succumbed to the pressures, so we are led to extreme solutions such as imprisonment”
“Obviously I don’t know what Albanian legislation says, but expropriation here at least in other countries is expropriating a plot of land for example to open a road to build a square. Something of public interest anyway. Is it being expropriated there so that someone else can take them and build a hotel?” was the next question of Kostas Papachliminzou with Mr. Doule answering “Exactly. That is, if you have a certain piece of land which is in a coastal area, tomorrow you and some others may find yourself in the context of a decision where that piece of land is given to me to someone else for the construction of a resort by a decision of the Council of Ministers under the Act on of strategic investors in the tourism sector”.
