THE agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain from Black Sea ports, also called the Black Sea Grains Initiative, extended for two more months, announced this early afternoon Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Yesterday, Moscow announced that it will withdraw tomorrow Thursday from this agreement if a series of demands for the trade of its own agricultural products are not met.

“It was decided to extend the Black Sea grain agreement for two more months”an agreement reached in July 2022, the Turkish president said in a speech to officials from his ruling Justice and Development Party.

Erdogan’s statement came after the last ship with Ukrainian grain left a Ukrainian port on the Black Sea today under the agreement that allows safe passage of food exported from the country.

The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Moscow will later comment on this reported extension of the agreement.
