THE Yevgeny Prigozhinthe head of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, on Thursday accused regular Russian army units of retreating 570 meters north of the city Bahamutin eastern Ukraine, leaving his own fighters exposed.
“Unfortunately, units of the Russian Ministry of Defense have withdrawn up to 570 meters north of Bakhmut, exposing our flanks,” Prigozhin said in a voicemail.
“I am appealing to the highest leadership of the Ministry of Defense – publicly – because my letters are not being read”, Prigozhin said.
“Please don’t leave the ribs”he said, addressing Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov, chief of the General Staff.
Wagner’s forces are leading the attack on Bakhmut with Prigozhin having repeatedly accused Russia’s top military of not doing enough to support his men. Prigozhin once again asked the Ministry of Defense to do everything possible to protect the flanks at Bahmut.
