Russia’s air defense systems shot down a number of drones as they approached the Ilski oil refinery in the Krasnodar region near the Black Sea, local officials said today.

“Some drones attempted to approach the Ilsky refinery area in Krasnodar Krai,” emergency services officials said in a post on the Telegram messaging app.

“All (the drones) were neutralized, the infrastructure of the facilities was not damaged,” they added.

Officials did not say who launched the attack. Reuters was unable to independently verify this information.

Yesterday, Saturday, Moscow announced that Ukraine hit its oil pipeline facilities on Russian territory. Kiev almost never publicly claims responsibility for attacks inside Russian territory and Russian-controlled territories within its territory.

The Ilski refinery, near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, with a capacity to process about 6.6 million tonnes a year, has been attacked several times this month.
