More than 4,000 people have been moved to temporary accommodation
Ukrainian forces continued to shell Russia’s Belgorod region overnight after two people were killed the night before and hundreds of children were turned away across the border, the governor said. Vyacheslav Gladkov.
“During the night it was quite restless,” Gladkov said in a Telegram post, adding that the towns of Sebekino and Volokonovsky suffered “a lot” of damage from the shelling.
More than 4,000 people have been moved to temporary accommodation in the region, which borders Ukraine to the south and west, the governor explained.
Yesterday Saturday Gladkov accompanied about 600 children from the towns of Sebekino and Grayvoron to Yaroslavl and Kaluga.
“The children of Sebekino are very worried about their city,” he noted. “I went to leave, they stopped me and anxiously started asking questions.”
Sebekino, a town of about 40,000 people on the border with Ukraine, and other areas in Belgorod Oblast have been regularly targeted in recent days, with Gladkov telling Russian media that the region is now living in “real war conditions”.
