Glickman’s future in the Euroleague is up in the air – The teams will decide on Monday

by

Less than a year after the final departure of Jordi Bertomeu, the Euroleague probably need a new… head.

On Monday, the shareholders of the organization will be asked to decide whether the Marshall Glickman he will remain in the position of executive director, with the possibility that he will not get the green light to continue quite visible.

Several shareholder groups (first of all the Spanish ones) are unhappy with the work of the American, who despite his long career in sports management (he was also the president of the Blazers in the NBA) could not develop the organization financially. At the same time, it is said that he does not have the best relations with the president of the Euroleague, Dejan Bodiroga, who still has the support of the shareholders.

So it will be interesting to see if Marshall Glickman is decided to be replaced or not. At the same time, the shareholders of the Euroleague will be asked to “lock” the roster of the next season’s teams. Everything shows how Virtus Bologna, Alba Berlin and the finalist of the Adriatic League (i.e. sure place for Partizan and Red Star) will get wild cards, while if Gran Canaria eventually declares weakness, Valencia is the favorite for its place.

Decisions are also expected in the part of the arbitration, with the Richard Stokes’ departure after 2017 a given, since there are quite a few complaints. It is likely that there will not be a new head of arbitration, but a three-member panel, in which Croatian Sreten Radovic is expected to hang up his whistle.
