A 23-year-old foreigner was arrested as part of the spontaneous procedure, on Friday (9/6) in the evening at Skala Oropou, for attempted rape.

In particular, according to ELAS, at noon on Thursday (8/6) on the beach of Agios Konstantinos Oropos, the 23-year-old approached a 69-year-old woman and with physical violence immobilized her with the aim of forcing her to tolerate a sexual act.

The 69-year-old defended herself and managed to free herself, with the 23-year-old fleeing the scene on an electric scooter.

In an investigation carried out by police officers of the Oropou Security Department, who were assigned to investigate the case, at the place where the incident took place, they found and seized a wireless handset.

During the investigation, two additional women had reported that on the same day in a nearby area they were followed threateningly by a person driving an electric scooter with the apparent intention of committing similar acts, who fled after their strong verbal reactions.

In the context of searches and checks of persons who resembled the perpetrator, the 23-year-old was identified, whose mobile phone was connected to the handset in question.

He was then taken to the ward where his involvement was ascertained and recognized by all the women.

In addition, the electric scooter used by the 23-year-old for his movements was confiscated.

The arrested person was taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
