A fire that broke out earlier today at a thermal power plant in Rostov caused power outages in the wider area, while around 150 factory workers were evacuated for safety reasons, as announced by the Russian Civil Protection Service.
Regional governor Vasily Golubev said in a Telegram post that three workers were injured during the fire.
The thermal power station – which is located near the Ukrainian border – supplies the wider region and therefore power outages are inevitable, he stressed.

The Civil Protection Service attributed the fire to a gas leak, ruling out the possibility of “external intervention”.
Russian media reported widespread power outages in the region, publishing photos of stationary trolleys in Rostov.
Electricity is expected to be restored gradually, after the fire department has now put out the fire.
