Ankara’s annoyance for the clear messages of the Greek President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, is reflected in today’s articles in the Turkish press.
Characteristic is what Hurriyet writes, accusing Ms. Sakellaropoulou of continuing to provoke tension, saying that Greece will not give in to Turkey’s unacceptable claims and aggressive rhetoric.
The President of the Hellenic Republic has been in the spotlight of Ankara in recent days and in fact the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement against her.
Yesterday, Ms. Sakellaropoulou, speaking at the online event of cutting the pie of the Imbrion Association, called on the Turkish authorities to change their attitude towards the Greek minority in Turkey and to apply, without exception, everything provided in the Lausanne Treaty for minorities.
At the same time, the President stressed that the Greek State will always support their tireless efforts to strengthen the Hellenism of Imvros but also to redress the injustices it has suffered over time.
