At least two people were killed and 22 others injured by Russian missiles that hit the center of the city of Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine earlier today.

“Two people were killed and 22 were injured, including a child. A restaurant and several houses have been damaged,” Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko wrote in a Telegram post.

A journalist of the French News Agency (AFP) who is at the scene of the attack, said that outside the restaurant “Ria Pizza” a crowd of people had gathered, while ambulances, the mayor of the city, police and soldiers had rushed.

Ruslan, 32, a chef who managed to get out of the damaged restaurant unharmed, says he was “lucky” pointing to the sky, pointing out that there were many customers in the restaurant when the attack took place.

A girl said that her 23-year-old half-brother was working in the kitchen and “they haven’t pulled him from the wreckage”.

Kramatorsk, which before the start of the Russian invasion had a population of 150,000, is the only major city in eastern Ukraine not under Russian control.
