Five rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, triggering air defense warning sirens, the Israeli military said in the early hours of the morning.

All the rockets were intercepted by Israel’s anti-missile defense systems and there were no reports of casualties or damage, according to the same source.

A few hours earlier it was announced that Chahal, the Israeli army, had begun withdrawing the troops it had deployed in the West Bank city of Jenin and the adjacent refugee camp as part of a large-scale operation. This operation, christened “Home and Garden”, had a casualty count that reached 12 dead on the Palestinian side, among them five alleged fighters, and one NCO dead on the Israeli side.

Meanwhile there are reports of clashes with gunfire and the use of tear gas at a hospital in the Jenin area.

The non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced that Israeli soldiers fired tear gas at a hospital where its team works.

Chahal said he was not informed of tear gas being fired at a hospital, but said he launched an airstrike against Palestinian gunmen who had taken up positions in a cemetery and were deemed to be threatening his retreating units.
