Police are even considering criminal negligence if the drinks they consumed were tainted
Ireland is shocked by the story of the two 18-year-old friends and classmates who lost their lives in Ios, one accidentally falling off a cliff and the second from the heart when he was informed of the death of the first.
According to the Daily MailMax Wall had gone to a shop and had printed posters about the disappearance of his friend Andrew O’Donnell which he was handing out to passers-by on the island, until he was informed of his death on a cliff in the Germanoli area.
When Max learned of Andrew’s tragic death, he prepared his things to return to his homeland, but he did not even manage to leave the port where he was waiting for the ship to Piraeus, as his heart, operated a few years ago, failed causing it to collapse.
As the principal of St Michael’s College pointed out, Andrew’s body was located on the cliff thanks to the signal from his mobile phone, while as he characteristically pointed out “if Andrew had walked a meter or two to the right or left of the route he had taken, he might have had not been found in a vacuum”.
The manager confirmed that Max was having heart problems as he had undergone an operation a few years ago, but also that Andrew had been in a bar on the island consuming alcohol shortly before he made the fateful decision to return alone to their room, falling off the cliff.
The parents of the two children came to Greece and received the bodies of their children yesterday, which today will be in Piraeus where the forensic examination will be done to establish the causes of their deaths.
The police are even considering the possibility of criminal negligence in the event that the drinks they had consumed were adulterated.
