Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, when asked about it by journalists, mentioned for the first time the case of the twenty-two-year-old girl who accuses Leonardo La Russa, the son of the president of the Italian Senate, of rape.

In particular, the Italian Prime Minister stated that “by nature, I tend to be in solidarity with a girl who complains. I don’t care how long it takes. Regarding the case of Leonardo La Russa, I understand, as a mother, the pain of the president of the Senate, but in his place I would not make any statement about the case. Let’s not mix politics with this case”.

Finally, Meloni emphasized that “a few days ago her government approved a draft law against violence against women” and that “the work of her government team speaks for itself”.

It is recalled that this particular girl, twenty-two years old, testified to a Milan prosecutor that on May 18 Leonardo La Russa, the youngest son of the president of the Italian Senate, after drinking together in a club, took her to his house, and, as he revealed to her the next day, he had sex with her, as did a friend of his, without her realizing what was happening.

His nineteen-year-old son Ignacio La Russa insists that the sexual relationship occurred with the girl’s consent. What will have to be ascertained, now, is whether it will finally be decided to refer the young man to trial.
