An ammunition depot was hit during a Ukrainian kamikaze drone strike in Crimea, the Moscow-appointed governor of the peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014, said.

“In the airspace of Crimea, 11 enemy drones were shot down by anti-aircraft defense forces,” Sergei Aksyonov said via Telegram, adding that an “ammunition depot” in Dzhankoy was hit and that debris from one of the aircraft also damaged a house.

According to the same official, for “security reasons” the movement of railways and cars was suspended.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that two Ukrainian UAVs were “neutralized” in Moscow, speaking of preventing “terrorist action” by Kiev.

The two attacks were recorded a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his forces would proceed with “retaliation” for the Russian strikes on the night of Saturday to Sunday in the center of Odesa that left two dead and around fifteen injured, during which a historic Orthodox cathedral was hit, among others.
