A New York police officer is dead and another is in critical condition after undergoing a shooting incident in Haarlem, a police official told CNN.
A civilian believed to be involved in the incident has died, the official said Friday night.
The incident occurred after police responded to an internal call for an incident of domestic violence around 6 p.m. on West 135th Street.

Mayor Eric Adam is in Haarlem Hospital, where police have been evacuated, and is being briefed on the incident, according to a tweet from his press secretary.
The mayor is expected to hold a press conference at the hospital, although it is unclear when this will happen.
Five NYPD officers were shot in the first three weeks of this year.
