An end to the speculations concerning the confirmation of the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin attempts to give a Russian channel, claiming that his body head of Wagner is already recognized by a characteristic finger amputation which he had suffered, reports the Daily Mail.

Prigozhin was injured in his left hand while serving his sentence in a criminal court colony, Russian VChK-OGPU Telegram channel reported.

He added that a senior Wagner commander identified his body from the injury, as well as that of the paramilitary group’s second-in-command, Dmitry Utkin, from his tattoos.

This revelation comes at a time when a preliminary US intelligence assessment found that the crash was caused by a deliberate explosionbut according to the Pentagon there is no evidence so far to point to a surface-to-air missile defense.

Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, did not provide further details or evidence as he spoke at a Pentagon news conference.

Western officials said Prigozhin was “highly likely” to have been targeted, either by a bomb hidden on the plane or deliberate sabotage of the planealthough Ryder declined to comment on whether the incident was an assassination plot.

An unnamed US official said it was “very likely” Prigozhin had been targeted.

Meanwhile, two Russian media outlets with security sources inside the Kremlin claimed that one or two bombs may have been planted on the plane. In unverified reports, it was claimed that the bombs had been planted in the rear of the aircraft near the lavatory.

This was fueled by revelations from flight attendant Kristina Raspopova, 39, who posted on social media before take-off that her flight had been delayed due to last-minute “repairs”. It is possible that a bomb was planted at that time, although this has not been confirmed.

The Telegram channel reported: “The body of Yevgeny Prigozhin was officially identified at the morgue, identified by one of Wagner’s commanders. The main sign was the amputation of the finger.”

It was not clear why several high-ranking members of Wagner, including top leaders who are usually very security-conscious, were on the same flight. The purpose of their joint trip to St. Petersburg was unknown.
