Ruby Frankie and co-worker Jodi Hildebrand were arrested Wednesday in Ivins after a destitute, hungry child asked neighbors for help
A American mother of many, known on the Internet for maintaining a YouTube channel where she presented the daily life of her family and the strict discipline of her children, has been arrested and is being held on charges of abusing them, as announced by the authorities in the state of Utah.
Ruby Frankie and her accomplice Jody Hildebrand were arrested Wednesday in Ivins after an impoverished, hungry child he asked the neighbors for help.
“The juvenile was emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around his limbs. He was asking for food and water,” the police said in their statement. According to the BBC, it was about 12-year-old Frankie, who escaped from the house by jumping from a window. His 10-year-old sister was found by police “in a similar state of malnutrition” inside the house. The two children were taken to a hospital.
The two women were charged on Friday for abuse of a minor with aggravating circumstances. They remain in custody today, according to the local prison service.

Ruby Frankie, a mother of six, rose to social media fame through the channel “8 Passengers” which he maintained on YouTube and which has now been disabled. There she presented the daily life of her family and projected the strict rules she set for her children, among which was the deprivation of food as a punishment. In excerpts from her videos, posted by other users after her arrest, Frankie threatened children that they would “lose the privilege of eating.” She had videotaped one of her sons sleeping on a pouf for months because he “lost his room” following a bad prank.
Frankie’s eldest daughter, Sari, reportedly posted on Instagram after her mother’s arrest that she and her family were “overjoyed that justice is being served” in the US. “We’ve been trying to tell the police and welfare for many years and we’re glad they’ve finally decided to step in,” he added.
The “8 Passengers” channel had approximately 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube.
