Earlier, speaking at the session of his party’s Central Committee, he had argued that “the independence of the judiciary is the great European bet for the party and its government”.
In a rather sarcastic way, the Prime Minister of Albania Mr. Edi Rama reacted today to the resolution of the European People’s Party by which the EPP unanimously requests from Tirana the swearing-in of Fredis Beleris as the mayor of Heimarra.
He was gripped by the wording of the resolution that “we call the Albanian authorities” to underline, in his post on the internet, that “to which Albanian authorities are you addressing the resolution?” and to continue that in this case they are not informed (in the European People’s Party) that the issue is not an electoral case but a judicial one and the courts have rejected such a request.”
In the same vein, Edi Rama adds that “the bodies of justice that ruled in this way were established with the full support of the US and the EU.” and are strongly supported by them in their hitherto excellent work against corruption and organized crime in the country.
To conclude that if deemed necessary in his government they are “more than ready to provide the senior leadership of the European People’s Party with information on the matter in any form and at any time”.
Earlier, speaking at the session of his party’s Central Committee, he had argued that “the independence of the judiciary is the great European bet for the party and its government”.
He did not fail, however, to attack the remanded mayor of Heimarra with the claim that “he is being used in various ways by various people from Greece and Albania, since”, as he said, “they even control his Facebook page for their own accounts”.
