Far-right terrorist group in Finland planned to kill Sana Marin when she was still prime minister, while they had made weapons using 3D printers, the court heard.

Four men are on trial in Lahti, accused of planning a terrorist attack but also of possessing firearms, reports a Daily Mail report.

According to the police, the men were followers of “accelerationism”, the theory of which claims that capitalism or the processes stemming from it must be deepened or accelerated to trigger radical change.

The idea linked to a wave of hate killings in the US, including the 2022 Buffalo shooting in which 10 black people were killed.

The defendants allegedly created firearms using 3D printers. Searches of their homes revealed a list of targets, including members of parliament, minority groups and anti-fascist activists.

Two of the defendants openly discussed Marin’s murder at a Social Democratic Party event in Lahti in 2022.

In the interrogation, one of the men admitted that “The FGC-9 gun was nearby and I could have reached the Lahti market by car in less than ten minutes. At the same time, I talked about these things on Telegram, as a possibility to attempt a political assassination.’
