Serbia accepted the compromise proposal of the European Union, but it was rejected by the Prime Minister of Kosovo and we did not reach an agreement, said the Serbian President
The new round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina that was held today ended in failure, at the highest political level, in Brussels. The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, claimed that the talks collapsed because of the fault of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. “We have not been able to formulate a clear road map for the normalization of relations. “Serbia accepted the compromise proposal of the European Union, but the Prime Minister of Kosovo rejected it and we did not reach an agreement,” said Vucic after the talks.
The president of Serbia said that the compromise they proposed High Representative for Foreign Affairs José Borel and Special Ombudsman Miroslav Lajčak it provided for the initiation by Pristina of the process for the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities, while at the same time Belgrade would also begin to fulfill its obligations.
The president of Serbia reiterated his commitment to the implementation of the European plan for the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, but estimated that the government in Pristina is not going to back down on the issue of the Union of Serbian Municipalities. The establishment of the Union of Serb-majority municipalities was agreed between the two sides in 2013 in Brussels.
