A 38-year-old mother from Utah is in shock after the negative criticism she received from netizens under her post on her personal Instagram account for hugging her teenage son. Amber Wright spoke to Today.com about the attack she received after the video she posted showed her hugging her 16-year-old son after a football game.

“They wrote to me that I was seducing him”

“I was so proud of him. I was just a proud mom hugging her child,” she characteristically said, when she went with other relatives to see her son play in a school match. “I never expected that there would be people who would write to me that I am sexually abusing him, that I am seducing him, that someone should notify welfare,” the woman notes to today.com.

The particular video that caused havoc on social media shows the 38-year-old hugging her child tightly after the match, congratulating him on his team’s victory. Wright herself captioned her post: “This boy has and always will have my heart. When I approached my baby for a hug after the race, he immediately picked me up and held me in his arms. It could have been 20 seconds, 30 seconds, a minute, I have no idea. At that moment time stopped completely. I honestly don’t know what good I have done to deserve you, Brix Wright, but I am grateful for every moment of every day that I have you by my side.”

Moments later she posted another photo of them smiling together, writing, “Only… him.”

“It would be cute if she was his girlfriend, not his mother”

The specific posts caused intense commentary on social media, initially from the woman’s followers and then from strangers who saw the video being reposted by other accounts. “Would be cute if she was his girlfriend, not his mother,” one commenter wrote. “Ah, you’re one of THOSE mothers,” another added meaningfully. “In the photo it looks like you are riding your son. Also your outfit is too sexy for a school football game,” one user wrote.

The video quickly went viral, with dozens of negative comments under the post. However, many were the ones who supported the woman, arguing that it is not something reprehensible.

“It’s just the way we are. Brix picks me up in his arms and squeezes me,” she said. The woman admitted that this particular hug was more emotionally charged than usual, but not for the reasons that some people consider “dirty” minds.

That soccer game was especially meaningful for the mother and her son, as it was the first time the youngster was allowed to wear the number 44 jersey, as he had requested, in honor of his father who committed suicide on April 4. of 2021.

“For our family it was a very emotional moment,” says her 16-year-old son

“My mother is the hero of my life. I just picked her up in my arms after the match, she didn’t jump on me. My mom is the only person who has always been by my side,” the youngster wrote on Instagram on September 7. “I grew up with an alcoholic father who came and went whenever he wanted. He was perfect when he was sober but his personality changed and became darker when he drank… It was the first time he had seen me in this jersey so it was a very emotional moment for me and for her. It was just a big hug,” the youngster wrote in his post.
