A child who was hit by a car in a parking lot in Melbourne’s east has died tragically.

Emergency responders rushed to Springfield Road in Blackburn North at around 6.45pm on Saturday night.

The medical personnel who rushed to the scene tried to do everything possible to save the child, but it turned out that he died on the spot.

The driver of the vehicle stopped to assist and is cooperating with police enquiries.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The tragedy comes just days after two young brothers were hit and pinned by a car while playing on a sidewalk.

Brothers Burak and Huseyin Pek, aged three and eight, were playing football in a lane behind their grandparents’ home in Braybrook when they were hit by a Toyota Prado allegedly driven by an unlicensed driver.

Police are also investigating another fatal crash in Templestowe several hours earlier on Saturday afternoon after a Toyota Prado and a motorbike collided at a busy intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle was killed instantly.
