Italy: Gradual lifting of measures against coronavirus – Draghi government decisions

by

The government of Mario Draghi, at today’s meeting of the cabinet, discussed and approved new measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Mandatory use of the protective mask in open spaces is extended at least until February 10. Then their use will depend on the number of cases in each area.

Clubs, discos and ballrooms will reopen on 10 February.

Regarding the duration of the green pass for the vaccinated, it was decided that it will be valid only for six months (instead of nine) for anyone who has only taken two doses. For the citizens who have made the commemorative dose, the Draghi government – within the week – intends to approve the unlimited power of the “pass”.

Regarding the state of emergency that ends on March 31, according to the Italian media, the Draghi government does not intend to extend its power.

From tomorrow, at the same time, you will need a certificate of vaccination, coronavirus cure or negative diagnostic test, to enter post offices, banks, public offices, and almost all commercial stores.

There is also a fine of 100 euros for citizens over 50 who have not been vaccinated. From February 15, at the same time, for those citizens who try to enter their workplaces without being vaccinated, the fine will range from 600 to 1,500 euros.

Citizens who arrive in Italy from other European Union countries tomorrow and have a “vaccination certificate” will not have to undergo a diagnostic test.

Finally, in the case of Covid-19 cases in the last twenty-four hours, the new infections in Italy are 57,715, with 349 deaths. In total, 478,314 diagnostic tests were performed, 12% of which were positive. There are currently 1,584 patients with coronavirus in the intensive care units (9 less than yesterday) while in the hospital wards there are 19,913, ie 296 more than yesterday.
