Israeli military (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari issued a statement Sunday to the media, clarifying that “there are still hostile forces within Israel, part of the invaders tried to escape back to Gaza and was killed on the fence.’
The Israeli army, through its spokesman, announced a thorough investigation into the failure to deal with Hamas: “Israeli public opinion deserves answers, and it’s theirs our responsibility to provide them”.
Hagari emphasized: “right now we are in the middle of a war. The IDF is fully committed to attacking the enemy and defeating the enemy. We will fight
first and then we will investigate.”
He also clarified that “I am convinced that the IDF chief of staff will also speak to the media; he is currently leading the battle.”
The Israeli official explained that the IDF forces have been involved in many areas, stating, that “for the last few hours, our forces have been fighting in the area of the border between Israel and Gaza to clear the area of invaders. Our troops faced enemy fire at Be’eri, faced invaders at Kibbutz Kfar Aza, conducted naval operations at Zikim, fought at Nahal Oz, Kisufim and other locations.”
He added, “The IDF launched a massive attack on Beit Hanoun, which took place in three rounds, with the participation of more than 50 fighter aircraft. They dropped tens of tons of ammunition in the area.” Haggari continued, “The Air Force is operating at full capacity, with thousands of reservists standing by.” The official further stated that “Hamas has brought great destruction to the Gaza Strip. We attacked 800 targets. In response to our attack, they suffered hundreds of casualties. Since the beginning of the conflict, dozens of enemy fighters have been captured.”
According to the last report, over 600 Israelis – military and civilians – have lost their lives after the Hamas invasion, while on the other hand, at least 370 people have died since the Israeli counterattack.
