The head of French diplomacy Catherine Colonna visited today, together with her Israeli counterpart, Eli Cohen, the Ashkelon hospital, which is only 15 kilometers from the Gaza Strip, where she met with victims of the deadly attack launched by Hamas on the 7 October.

“I wanted to come to the hospital (…) because it is a way to show France’s solidarity with Israel, which experienced a monstrous terrorist attack, and a way to say that France shares the pain of the Israeli people because it knows the price of terrorism,” said Colonna, recalling that the attack killed at least 17 French citizens.

The minister also spoke about the “heartbreaking stories” of the families whose members are hospitalized. “Take care of the children, it’s also a way to look to the future,” he said.

“We have to make sure that this never happens again in the world,” Cohen said.

Colonna will return to Jerusalem and depart for Cairo in the afternoon.
