The head of surgery at Gaza’s largest hospital, Al Shifa, claims that the facility’s staff “cannot cope” with the huge number of patients they are treating, sending a video to CNN of the chaotic scenes inside the hospital.
The video he recorded and sent to CNN shows several rows of patients on either side of a hospital corridor, some on stretchers, others lying on the floor.
“This is the yellow area of our emergency department at Sifa Medical Complex. Injured people there, there, there…” says Dr. Marwan Sai’ida as he looks at the camera, covering the entire length of the corridor. “[Είμαστε] overwhelmed with patients, a huge number of wounded”.
“[Είναι] difficult to deal with this situation, this is horrible, the staff cannot deal with this huge number of injured,” he says, ‘There is no other space.’
He is also head of International Cooperation at the Palestinian Ministry of Health and claims there are currently 8,000 people in hospital and called on world leaders to act to end the war.
