Boris Johnson’s two top advisers, Chief of Staff Dan Rosenfield and Prime Minister Martin Reynolds’s chief secretary of staff, resigned from Downing Street on Thursday night.
Their resignations were expected, as they have been blamed to a greater or lesser extent for the lax application of lockdown rules that allowed multiple parties to be held on Downing Street. Mr Johnson had announced changes to the structure of the prime minister’s office in a bid to reassure Conservative MPs who were upset by the ‘partygate’.
Both Messrs. Rosenfield and Reynolds will remain in place until replacements are found.
Their resignations bring to four the top adviser to the British Prime Minister who announced his departure from Downing Street on Thursday, following the resignation of communications director Jack Doyle and the most resounding and unexpected resignation of Munira Mirza’s political supporter. of the Prime Minister’s Office and a close associate of Mr Johnson since he was mayor of London.
