Today, Tuesday marks one month since Hamas invaded Israel by surprise. Fierce fighting continues as Israeli forces push ever closer to Gaza, encircling it from all directions and possibly even within a few hundred meters of Al-Shifa Hospital where the IDF says the Hamas underground headquarters is located.

In a month of horror over 10,000 are dead while the UN Security Council has once again failed to reach a decision on a humanitarian ceasefire. At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu makes it clear that there will be no ceasefire unless the hostages are released. He also emphasized that “Israel will assume, indefinitely, overall responsibility for security” in the Palestinian enclave, he added.

“We destroyed Israeli tanks” claims Hamas, which announced 200 dead in the last 24 hours.

The Israeli army is getting closer and closer to the center of Gaza

According to what SKAI’s envoy to Israel, Stavros Ioannidis, is reporting, it is now a matter of hours before the operation moves into a new phase of the ground operation, that is, operations aimed at destroying headquarters located under hospitals or mosques.

Gaza is under a stranglehold and the countdown to the major operation in the Gaza tunnels, where Hamas members have taken refuge and are moving, has begun for the Israeli army. The Israelis reportedly have a specific plan to neutralize Hamas gunmen in the maze of tunnels in Gaza City and it is now a matter of time before it is activated. The aim, it seems, is to trap the Hamas members inside the tunnels, without water or food and force them to release the hostages and either surrender themselves or force a disorderly exit from the galleries, where they will be confronted with the forces of the Israeli army

Overnight airstrikes near hospitals

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that two Israeli rockets hit the area about 50 meters from al-Quds hospital in Gaza City at night. Earlier, he had issued an urgent appeal to international aid agencies, saying the hospital would run out of fuel within 48 hours, meaning “life-saving equipment, neonatal incubators and intensive care units will cease to function”.

Furthermore, an Israeli strike hit the roof of Shifa hospital in Gazakilling at least 8 people and injuring dozens.

According to Palestinian Authority Health Minister Mai al-Qaila more than 60% of Gaza’s medical facilities are out of order. Specifically, Al-Qaila said that 16 out of 35 hospitals and 51 out of 72 medical centers are no longer functioning due to shortages of fuel and medical supplies as well as Israeli shelling.

Meanwhile, Palestinians who fled south on Monday reported heavy Israeli shelling overnight in the Sati refugee camp. They said the Israeli military pounded the camp and the area around Al Shifa Hospital during a new communications blackout.
