The Israeli army today announced the death of Noah Marciano, a 19-year-old Israeli soldier held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, a day after the Palestinian Islamist movement released a photo showing her as “dead from a shelling” by Israel.

“Corporal Noah Marciano from the city of Montiin (…) is declared dead by the army. She was abducted by the terrorist organization Hamas,” the army said in a statement, adding that it had informed the young woman’s family.

Yesterday, Monday evening, a spokesman for the armed wing of Hamas, who identified himself as Abu Obeida, announced the death of the Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip, which has been pounded relentlessly by Israel since the bloody October 7 attack by Hamas on Israeli soil. with 1,200 dead, mostly civilians, according to Israeli authorities.

“The enemy strikes and it is not only the lives of Palestinian civilians that are at risk, the enemy does not care if he kills the prisoners: the proof is that he killed the captive soldier who had been kidnapped alive (…) but she was killed days ago in a shelling of the enemy” according to Abu Ubaydah.

Hamas had also released a video of the young woman that the Palestinian Islamist movement said was taken on November 4. To this the young woman appealed for her release.

Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip have killed more than 11,000 people, two-thirds of them women and children, according to Hamas’ health ministry.
