The head of the Turkish Navy, Erdjumed Tatlioglu, made provocative statements in his speech at the Naval Academy in Gialova, as reported by Manolis Kostidis.
He even raised the issue of demilitarization and questioning Greek sovereignty in the Aegean islands.
He claimed that Greece is constantly engaging in tension-raising activities, such as gradually increasing its defense budget.

As he said from France, he is buying 4 Belharra class frigates. It was going to buy 18, increased by 6 more, and is buying 24 Rafale aircraft. The US has become our neighbor to the west. It has a large base in Greece at the moment
He claimed that “there are islands with a demilitarized status. 23 of these islands are demilitarized 19 of them are militarized. We have islands and islets whose sovereignty and belonging are disputed. They try to show them as theirs by arranging visits to them as if they are theirs the islands. On the one hand they try to present a suitable environment”.

In fact, he mentioned that Greece increased its territorial waters in the west to 12 miles in 2020 and claimed that he is trying to send the following message: “If I get the chance, I will increase it to 12 miles in the Aegean”.
